SICAT Surgical Guides FAQ

Yes, guided systems such as Navigator by BIOMET 3i can be used with SICAT surgical guides. You can find an up to date list with currently available guided systems here.

The order wizard of the software (SICAT Implant or GALILEOS Implant) will take you through the order process in easy steps. You can find the wizard under the menu “Surgery”.

For the production of a patient specific surgical guide SICAT will need the following: Radiographic template, stone model, planning data on CD.

The virtual implant plan can be changed as long as the radiographic template has not been processed by SICAT. Please call SICAT support to determine the status of your case. To send us an adjusted plan select ‘Plan’ → ‘Export Plan’ and send us the corresponding ‘.xml’ file via e-mail.

To avoid inaccuracies, we recommend to use only 3D scans with a clear fit of the radiographic template in the patients jaw.

A scan displaying movement of the patient may cause inaccuracies during the production of the surgical guide. Please contact one of SICAT’s specialists to determine if your scan can be used.

Panoramic images are distorted. The panoramic view serves as an overview only and is not suitable to control geometric ratios for example the angulation of implants. For exact geometric ratios please refer to the 3D rendering view and the slice views, especially the view ‘Implant aligned’.

The prosthetic proposal is not mandatory but helpful in serving as orientation during implant planning. It also helps to differentiate the gingiva. The prosthetic proposal can be prepared by using barium sulfate with the radiographic template or virtual using a CAD/CAM system (CEREC).
